Sublimation printing
Performed by special printer and used for printing on plastic cards.
Printing is performed on ready 54ő85.6 mm plastic cards with different
thickness (usually0.75 mm).
Offset printing with varnishing
Printing is frequently performed on cut plastic cards of different
colours by small scale offset machine (full colour or colour printing).
The top of the image is covered by protective varnish (matte or glossy).
It is possible to use printing on chip based plastic ready cards (smart
cards).
Offset printing with lamination
Printing is performed on large sheets of "raw" plastic by offset
printing then 4-5 sheets of plastic are folded like ”patty”: sheets with
stamping (face and reverse side of the card) come in the middle, sheets
of transparent plastic (laminator) are put along the edges. They are put
into a special laminator where sheets of plastic are pressed under
impact of pressure and temperature. Then standard size (54x85.6 mm)
cutting is performed. Thus, printing appears not on the surface but
under protective layer of transparent plastic.
